Math & Science

There is a Science quiz on Thursday during Humanities time (after we watch GATTACA).

Here is an outline for your quiz:  quiz will all be written
-DNA, structure, function
-asexual vs sexual reproduction (advantages/disadvantages)
-internal vs external fertilization
-meiosis & mitosis (compare/contrast)
-dominant vs recessive traits...Punnett Square questions (phenotype/genotype)
-gamete, zygote, somatic/body cells, chromosome number in each

Genetics practice questions:

Punnett Square review questions...key posted on D2L under news.

Try these:
A hybrid tall plant crosses with a purebred tall plant.  Find the genotypic & phenotypic ratios of the offspring.

CHALLENGE QUESTION:  A heterozygous tall, yellow plant crosses with a hybrid tall, yellow plant.  Find the phenotypic ratio of the offspring.

Here are a few items that need to be covered to prep for your quiz:

sketch figure 1.47 on p.51...label the steps & vocab

compare & contrast the advantages & disadvantages of sexual vs asexual reproduction...a chart works best here

*****I would pause Math for a few days...with that being said, you need to be reviewing fractions...all operations.  You could do a few questions from 2.3 in your textbook to stay on top of it.
