ELA Practise Exam May 2 and 5

Get a good night sleep and come in on the 2nd to practise writing your Essay/Narrative.  We will have the computers book and you will have 1 1/2  periods to write your Narrative/Essay. We will practise the Functional Writing on the THURSDAY with 1 1/2 periods also.

Today we reviewed one step & two step equations in Algebra.  Some students are really struggling with the fractions involved.  We also worked through a Learn Alberta gizmo.

-series/parallel circuit tomorrow for the double...please have this lab prepped unless you are a returning trip #1 sailor
-Thursday Science quiz (Topics 1-3; static electricity, parts of a circuit/symbols, series/parallel circuits, diagrams, Ohm's Law calculations)
-Thursday Algebra Check In (one step & two step eqns) in partners to practice & get feedback
-Math check in Friday (one & two step eqns)

Extra help is available every day at lunch except for Mondays.  Please ensure that you are asking for help as soon as you don't understand a concept.  Extra help is also available after school in study stop or in room 10.

This week we will be sampling Shakespeare and learning to use the language.  We will hand in our Introductions and Essay outlines on Tuesday. Begin creating our anthology of poetry and complete it by Friday.  We will also discuss consumerism at a more in-depth level. Looks like a great week!

-review Ohm's Law...work on the practice calculations
-review algebra gallery walk...ensure that your reflections are complete
-review series & parallel circuits
-complete Resistance Roadblock lab
-start 8.1 in Math (one step equations with fractions)

To Do:
-complete Resistance Roadblock lab in journal (for Tuesday)
-practice textbook questions for Ohm's Law p. 282 (show all your work) (for Tues)
-prep Series & Parallel lab p. 287 (for Wednesday)
-work on Chapters 5-7 review in Math p. 284-287...not due but you might want to be cycling through for review purposes
-Math homework...discussed in class
-prep for your Science quiz which will be next Thursday covering Topics 1-3

Trip #1 Sailors:
-have the time of your life...soak it all in

Check in today for Math.

Please prepare for the lab tomorrow on Measuring Current & Voltage (Topic 2).  Set-up data tables & diagrams in your journals...please read through the analysis questions carefully so you have a plan when you come in to the lab tomorrow.  The lab will take the double...analysis & conclusion questions will be due on Wednesday.

Ma/Sci

On Friday we reviewed reasoning type questions for multiplying/dividing polynomials.  There is a Math check in on Monday covering multiplying/dividing monomials (algebraically/modeling/reasoning) and multiplying monomials by polynomials (algebraically/modeling/reasoning).  The units in the textbook are 7.1 and 7.2 which are both posted on D2L.  Remember to check your work as you are doing practice questions.

Please read through Topic 2 Electricity especially the Investigation on Measuring Current & Voltage.  Please create the data tables & get the diagrams into your journal.  Ensure that you space things in your journal so you can complete the lab & analysis questions right in your journal.  Thanks.

Math & Science

Today we reviewed multiplying & dividing monomials & pushed forward into multiplying monomials by polynomials.

There will be a check-in on Monday.

Science:  reviewed static electricity & components of a circuit & circuit symbols & drawing circuit rules.

Math & Science

Today we went over the Adding/Subtracting Polynomials Take 2 assessment.  We then introduced multiplying monomials algebraically and using algebra tiles.

Assignment:

p.  260 Q 3-5, 7, 9,17 please work on this tonight...you should have up to question 7 completed for sure for tomorrow

In Science, we went over the Static Electricity assignment.  Hoping to do an investigation tomorrow if all goes to plan.
